The Mountain Wedding Needed This: Glam

We’ve visited some of our favorite Rockies resort locations this week, and couldn’t help but act a little floored when we walked into this super chic, super accessible Breckenridge locale.    This location gets it right for the fashionable bride that doesn’t want to sacrifice STYLE when she gets married with a backdrop of the Rockies.    Don’t want to get married in a log cabin with dead animals watching your nuptials?   Try Blue Sky Resort in Breckenridge.

At first sight, it’s chic lobby hosts a gigantic horse head sculpture, black accents and cow rugs combined with contemporary art–not just your average mountain art, either.   Edgy, abstract Native American art flanks the walls.    Sure, they have a great ceremony deck with distant mountain views, but so do most resorts.    Their cocktail party area IS the amazing lobby that stretches from one end of the hotel, it seems, to the other–complete with a cheeky western bar for that overflow (or groomsmen-stashing room pre-ceremony).

The clincher?    Their amazing accommodations.   Luxurious two, three and four bedroom condos are the norm here, and they’re amazingly affordable.   Each boasts a contemporary kitchen, sprawling living area (with sleeper sofas), and several have private hot tubs.    The bridesmaids, parents with children or just couples that want to share a condo can do so and enjoy the wedding weekend in style.   Your mother-in-law-to-be can host a brunch in her private condo, complete with full-size dining table.  And you and your new hubby can enjoy the fact that most of your family and friends will love where you’ve chosen them to stay.     Want even more affordable lodging?    It’s just across the street, and the free Breck shuttle will bring guests back and forth as needed.

Oh–and did we mention the KID’S ROOM??  Complete with arcade games, this genius addition to the hotel/lodge should be a must on every lodge’s list.   If you have a willing (or hired) sitter, they have a separate room on the same floor as the event space that every kid will love.

Check out these photos from a sample buffet-style reception.    The main ballroom is just the right size (120-130 guests) and can easily be extended onto the patio with a tent.   The mandatory caterer, Harvest Catering, has a great menu and can accommodate a variety of budgets with creativity and style.  Go mountain glam!
